Featured Ritual Celebration: It's The Thought That
Counts!
By Mary Jo
Saavedra Whatever happened to
this idea of "It's the thought that counts."? Well, we are giving
new life to it in my family. As we all struggle to simplify our
chaotic lives, at the same time, we also yearn for more substance
and meaning in the activities we choose to keep in our family lives.
Gift giving is one of those activities I love to do. I want to have
it in my life but I want to add more meaning to the gifts I give and
to have fun in the process. So, for the past few years around the
holidays and birthdays, my family has tried some new ways of giving
gifts. We have found that with the following ideas our gift giving
has been more fulfilling and less stressful.

Winter 2008 Newsletter
Peace to all! As we prepare for the holidays and
winter this year, gathering our loved ones close by can help us
weather the economic storms and enrich our celebrations with time
spent around the table. Wisdom Quilts has introduced a new
blog called MJ's Table Talk
designed to help you create meaningful memories around your table
that will help in carving out time in your daily routines. It
is a place to talk about what is on your mind and share support in
creating a festive and warm environment for your holiday gatherings.
So pull up a chair and a frothy hot chocolate and let's talk!
We can start with how to do gift giving this year,
keeping it festive and fun when using creative ideas that are Green
and budget friendly. Start by reading our ideas in "It's the
Thought That Counts", then let your imagination create a
one-of-a-kind holiday that will be memorable and heart
warming. Remember to look in on older neighbors and see if
there are some holiday chores you can help with; and there is always
a friend who can use a couple hours of babysitting so she can get
some holiday errands checked off her list. Gifts of time and
talent are the most precious we can give, and this year it returns
us to the joy and love of each other while our world struggles to
start a new chapter. Blessings are like snowflakes, no
two are alike and they melt away when we are not looking. Pull
out your quilts, sing, and be merry! May the best of joy be
yours this New Year and Peace to all of us. Merry
Christmas! Mary Jo Chief
