Good Works - Wisdom Quilts makes donations only to charities that are focused on empowering children, strengthening families, or enriching communities. We are dedicated to the celebration of each person's uniqueness and to preserving that diversity which provides the richness in all of our lives.

The charities listed below embody Wisdom Quilts' philosophy, and although we do not represent these organizations, we offer them as ideas for you to further explore.

The Right of Every Child Born

Frederick Marx is producing a 90 minute film to bring awareness to the need for Culturally appropriate rites of passage and mentorship programs that will provide our youth with the developmental markers to grow with healthy childhoods into adulthood. Itís time to help our children and parents with real tools to change the tide of social illness washing over our youth. Join Frederick in his effort by donating and getting the word out. Warrior Films is a 501C3 non-profit.

Light of Hope: Ft. Jose Maria Salazar has worked with his community on the outskirts of Lima, Peru for over 15 years. He has been able to establish a self-sustaining infrastructure to pull these families out of bleak material poverty and spiritual hopelessness.

Project Linus is a non-profit organization providing security quilts and afghans to seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise needy children.

Mercy Corps exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities.

Quilts for Kids is a non-profit organization in Portland, Oregon providing quilts to the Cares Northwest Center treatment program for abused children.

Ano's Art is a non-profit organization in Portland, Oregon providing hands-on art instruction for children 3 1/2 years old to adult. Ano's gift for teaching art and her creative motivation and inspiration of each child makes the learning experience in her enchanting classroom truly rewarding and delightful.

Nets for Africa: The World Health Organization reports that 3000 children a day die in Africa of a preventable disease called Malaria. For a $5 donation, a net can be purchased and distributed through several established programs: The Carter Center, The World Health Organization and The Center for Disease Control.

Heifer International offers gift shares in animals that are then donated to families around the world to teach life sustaining farming.

Best Friends is a ranch in Utah that will take animals of every type and give them a home until they die. This may be a good charity for children to support and build a relationship with.
